Drank from the Italian Village Chicago winelist - Opened and decanted for an hour, dark garnet colored, medium-full bodied, a symphony of elegant flavors, soft, silky, polished, dense blackberry and notes of black cherry and plum fruits with tones of mineral, spice, tobacco and leather with smooth polished fine grained tannins on a long seductive finish. https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2021/10/team-dinner-at-iv-chicago.html

Mixed reviews. Wife thought is was pruny and past peak. I thought it was delicious out of the bottle, better later with dinner, lost it's luster after dinner, but inexplicably to me the best glass was on day 2. Go figure. Overall a fun if not utterly confusing experience. Bought at auction.

This bottle had a bit of funk initially, which largely blew off after an hour in the decanter. Slightly pruney, with suggestion that it's past its prime, but not past it's enjoyment window. We enjoyed it thoroughly with balsamic marinated pork and peach/tomato salad. Based on this bottle I would drink within the next couple of years.

13.5% abv. Still going strong; tasting this reminds me why I love this Merlot again and again. Great wine, leather, cigar box, plums, soft and deeply integrated tannins, very classy. Bought this at little wine shop in Florence (winery 25min away) so it was very well stored. Has 5-10 years to go.

Very nice balance. A very refined style but the fruit shines through an envelope of graphite tannins. Best to drink over next 2 years.
