  • Very advanced. Nutty/Sherry like aromas. Aldehydic. A full and buttery palate, lacking detail.

  • Same btl as rocknroller. Nita & I along with Kevin & Vicki to further celebrate our 45th wedding anni at The Kenwood in Minneapolis. From one of Burgundy's semi "under the radar" but outstanding producers! Not the head-turner that a very recent 2017 PYCM CC was but still a great example I'd be more than happy to own & drink again. Potent minerality along w/ citrus & stone fruit. It's hard to overstate its bead of steely minerality. Balanced w/ plenty of acidity but ready to go as it has become more placid since my previous btl in late 2021. Elegant, regal Corton-Charlemagne that is ready to drink. There was some coursing overlap where we also had Kevin's '08 Crystal which kind of pancaked my CC :). 93+

  • Light gold plus color. Drank a glass over an hour. The nose feels bigger with butter brickle, rich, lots of minerality and stone fruit notes on the nose. Yet there are subtleties too in the peach fuzz and dried herb notes. The palate is more minerally, though it strikes a nice balance of power and finesse with its crisp stone fruits, green apple and apple sweet tart tanginess. Very good.

  • Fairly dark golden colour, looks a bit suspicious. Medium intense nose of dried apricots, wet stones and candied lemon. In the mouth however this does not feel premoxed. Medium to full bodied, with a nice spine of acidity that gives it a steely character, but then there are the flavours of dried and candied fruit leading to a minerals finish. Good length. Overall not exuberant, but very classy.

  • Tonight with crab cakes. PnP into Riedel Montrachets. Color is a mature gold but the nose is fresh with loads of mineral & citrus. The flavors are powerful with a potent dominating minerality along with citrus & stone fruit. Its hard to overstate its bead of steely minerality. Boldly balanced with plenty of acidity to drive it. This is authoritative & regal Corton-Charlemagne! I have one more and while I didn't pick up even a hint of oxidation Ill likely drink my last before 2025. If, on the other hand I roll the dice, this may offer some fascinating placidity in 5yrs or so. Quite a tasty and impressive Corton Charlemagne befitting its name reference to the historic ruler. 13.5% alc
