This wine is still singing beautifully even at almost 10 years of age. Roasted tomatoes, brick, tobacco, stewed blackberries, and vanilla greet you on the nose. As the wine decanted the nose began to show some signs of olive as well. Flavors of blackberry compote and plum continue on the palate, which carries into plush tannins and a lingering finish. What this wine lacks in its tannic structure, it makes up for on the nose. Excellent wine overall.

Joining our friends who just returned from 6 months in Florida. I opened this bottle and let it breathe. Took it to a local BYOB. This is a really good wine. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate was dark berries, dark plums, tobacco, cedar and a hint of vanilla leading to a long finish.

A Monday night pop and pour post Martinez Manhattan because why not? Paired with crab cake dinner. I was shocked, despite my previous experiences with the vintage. It tastes like the Cabernet Sauvignon equivalent of Andremily, Next of Kyn, and Sin Qua Non. Yes, that rich and powerful style. A pleasant surprise. Concentrated and huge. Ripe and full. Crème de cassis. Kirsch. A hint of cigar box. Chocolate. Salt. Banana. On day two: sweet then savory, and the very last drop tasted like 20 year old Bordeaux. Phenomenal wine. To Kalon comes through once again; there is something about bloodlines. I am now motivated to open Detert, Opus One, or Overture. Or even another bottle of this because it is drinking so well right now! Note to self: pair this with Momofuku or dry rub ribeye. I have been pining for an espresso rubbed ribeye after recently eating one at 45 Bistro in Savannah.

I am not sure if this had been stored properly after buying a case at Total Wine. None of the bottles feel fresh and not a lot of fruit in the taste
