Dark red color, dark fruits, meat , herbs, sandalwood, very nice and complex on the nose , in the mouth dark fruits again , good acidity, little less than expressive nose

Restaurant pop and pour- used a Vinturi instant decant. Deep color lightening at edges. Very pretty classic notes on the bouquet- smoked bacon, dried lavender, sage, violets, blackberry. Expressive on the palate with nicely open and juicy fruit notes and depth of flavor. It picked up mid-palate weight with air, but was ultimately lacking the overall density to take this from good to special. Fine polished tannins, mouthwatering acid, medium finish.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): Dark and dense; dark red fruit, sweet, ripe...very ripe, slight VA, sandalwood; dried fruit on the palate, seems like Grenache, fig, rustic, sweet, sandalwood, no pepper; good but not what I expected, really seemed like something else in a very hot year.

Floral nose, similar to 2010. Much more matured in the mouth, lest fruit, more minerality and herbaceousness. Still plenty of tannin. Chewy. Very nice.

(Domaine Auguste Clape Cornas Renaissance) Very dark red violet color; tart tomato, sage and charcoal broth nose; tasty peppery, berry, black fruit and charcoal palate; medium-plus finish
