Deep ruby colour. Pronounced and developing nose with blackcurrant, green bell pepper, eucalyptus, black pepper, cloves, leather and tobacco. Pronounced taste of blackcurrant, blackberry, black pepper, cloves, leather and tobacco. Long and dry finish. High acidity. High tannins. Full body. An outstanding Pauillac with great potential. Drink in ten to twenty five years. Goes well with beef or lamb.

Knockout Baron, one of the best of their string of successes the last few years, and I might give it the edge over the Comtesse this year--at the very least, it's more characteristically itself. This is fully loaded; a Parkerism like "on steroids" is not inapt as it comes across thick and dense, packed with rich purple fruit, walnuts, and cedar. The fruit is saturating and glossy, enough to keep the structure buried, but also bright and piercing so it doesn't come off flabby despite its scale.
