Wines in Cardiff; 4/19/2024-4/20/2024: Reticent nose. Not balanced on the palate and acidic. The finish was pretty sweet with a date like note but slightly short. Was hoping for more. Have had better 2013s. Far cry from Bellene Les Suchots of same vintage. From Bo via TWS.

Red fruits and violets with forest floor and a hint of clove. Of course lovely but perhaps not a super exciting burgundy for me personally. This may have been an expectations issue on my part. Nicely structured but not particularly long (though I don't think it's nearing the end of it's drinking window, if I had another bottle I'd be tempted to push it and see what happens). (91/92)

This was showing very well - crisp alpine strawberries, violets, white pepper and truffle on the nose. Soft, juicy and sleek, with silky tannins. A little bit of grip at the back suggests it has further to go. Very red-fruited and classic, if without marked complexity.

Lovely nose, mid weight Ready to go - don’t sense any bitterness or tart notes like a couple of other notes but I feel It’s just very average. No real finish at all and quite cool / weak on the mid to end profile enjoyable enough but plenty of other French and new world options that will blow this away at the price, which isn’t terrible for burgundy.
To be fair some time in glass does give it a bit more so it may improve but still don’t think it’s that great.

Red fruits, overpowering acidity, £60 from TWS. Not very typical of VR - would expect more balance, fruits.
