  • Rob, Gord, and Finn visit the Wedge (Wedge House, Queensberry, Central Otago, New Zealand): Fabulous chardonnay drunk at a particular apex of late maturity. Smooth, butterscotch, vanilla, meal, and generous alcohol. At ten years of age, this has a very nice balance of teary character allied to primary fruit quality.

  • 10yo now and still improving , nicely developed Colour , fresh fruity aromas and the palate was outstanding, great complexity and finish
Certainly has proved this wine’s ability to age

  • The wine is clear and medium lemon yellow in colour.
The nose is clean with pronounced intensity aromas of citrus such as grapefruit, stone fruit such as nectarine, tropical fruit such as pineapple, oak such as vanilla, tertiary notes of hazelnuts, baked apples, smoke and wet stones. The wine is developing.
The palate is dry with medium acidity, medium (+) alcohol (13.5%), full body, pronounced intensity flavours of grapefruit, nectarine, vanilla, and wet stones and minerals. The finish is long.
The wine is outstanding in quality. The acidity balances fruit and the alcohol, all elements are well integrated, the finish is long, and the pronounced intensity comes from primary, secondary and tertiary favours.
The wine can be drunk now and but is suitable for further ageing although it is drinking beautifully now. There is enough fruit to support further ageing, allowing tertiary flavours to develop further, and it has the structure to support this.
This is more in your face than the Puligny Renferts that preceded it. But extremely good, just less subtle.
    Sadly my last bottle.

  • Wine Tasting with HfL Executive (Fanhams Hall Hotel): Fabulous again
Clear and pale lemon in colour.
Pronounced intensity aromas of ripe fresh grapefruit, nectarines, vanilla, hazelnuts, smoke. Developing.
Dry palate, medium (+) acidity, medium (+) alcohol, full body, pronounced flavours similar to the nose, long finish.
Outstanding quality - concentration and complexity of fruit, balanced by acidity and mineral streak, length of finish. Can be drunk now but suitable for further ageing. This remains remarkably youthful and has the structure and concentration to age for several more years.
