This was surprisingly open for business upon opening, espcecially for a Bonnes Mares. Very clean wine as I've come to expect from Vougeraie, and as this breathed the nose began to blossom with a good mix of fruit, if more on the darker (blue and black) spectrum than red. Good weight on the palate and balanced with excellent acidity that is integrated well. Overall, a very enjoyable and really good wine.
I'd say that this is somewhere in the middle between the brooding monsters that you sometimes get from Bonnes Mares, versus the light and lifted wines that you can get - especially those with a majority of Terres Blanches inside them. As a result, I'm unsure if I'd have been able to guess this blind - I guess thankfully it wasn't!
In a very good spot right now, and affirms my belief that most 2009s are drinking beautifully across the board right now. Will keep at this level for many years but don't hesitate to drink now if you feel the itch! Thanks as always to M for sharing.

Perfect cork, decanted 2 hrs prior into narrow decanter. Limited sediment. Served at 17C. Very slight bricking at edges. Mid to light mouthfeel. Limited bouquet. Delicious balance between red fruit, slight bramble with some structure. Drank with cote de veau, solid pairing but likely better with slightly stronger foil. Can be drunk now with pleasure; hopefully will gain bouquet in coming years!

From Magnum. Opened 2.5 hours. Color is showing some age with orange/brown rim. On the nose I get cherry, strawberry and a hint of vanilla . It’s a soft lovely nose. On the palate: intense cherry and strawberry fruit with some nice spice notes as well. The flavor is bold but old world. The mouthfeel is very smooth and elegant. This is world class wine. I have a magnum case and I will enjoy this bottle but hold the next one for a special occasion. This wine has lots of life in it.

Had at a spectacular WINEBID.com tasting event. Total of 39 wines tasted with an unbelievable lineup ! Bravo to Sterling Roig.
Quite floral and very restrained on the mouth (initially). Flavors at the start which seem more cardboard influenced than barrel wood influenced. With that dig on the wine I add ........ give it a few minutes and re taste. Became more floral on the nose and an evident blue fruit fruits, some additional vegetable and finally a charchol finish. I would say rich tasting and certainly unique in the profile.

From a magnum. One of the most powerful burgundies I have ever tried. Strawberries and raspberries, lovely finish. 50 years left?
