Dense garnet. Full and deep nose, dark fruited, a touch of decay and a hint of ripeness. Dense and finely velvety. Dark red and black fruit, proper GC weight, and a long finish with just a hint of liquorice on the way out. Nicely structured too, some tannin though not obtrusive and balancing acidity. A very solid example. A good accompaniment to roast rib of veal with creamed foie gras and mushroom spinach. ****

Casual (Mostly) Burg Dinner with Friends (Paris Club - Chicago IL): Popped and poured, this came across as very much characteristic of the 2000 vintage, with lots of easily enjoyable fruit that is ever-so-slightly starting to mature with good ripeness and richness. Good density and concentration display its Grand Cru origin. I'd have a lot more trouble identifying any unique terroir here.

Bonnes Mares tasting with Jasper Morris; 2/24/2014-3/1/2014 (Berry, Bros & Rudd, St James, London): Quite dark and full bodied, opaque even with some fading brown around the edges. Very soft and smooth, but lacking some acidity for me, there's a fair amount of flavour but it's not very well defined, decent length.

Bonnes Mares with Jasper Morris (The Pickering Cellar, St James's, London): A tad vegetal on the nose, dark, dense, grippy, not sure I'd have picked this as burgundy

Ripe aromas of black cherry and spice with flavors to match. Hints of wet earth and fresh herbs. Still a bit tight, but approaching peak.
