With a few minutes of air and some swirls, ripe strawberries and cherries burst forth from the glass. The nose represents the heritage well - the power of a Bonnes Mares and the elegance of Chambolle.
The palate was amicable - ripe, concentrated cherries and raspberries present on a beautiful bed of fresh, lifted acidity. Despite the depth of character, this wine is still very quaffable.
The finish was a bit fleeting for how dense the palate was - unclear if this is due to bottle condition or simply a characteristic of the wine. The bottle ran out before I had a chance to verify.
Still a fantastic wine even without the long finish I was expecting.

Three guys, five Pinots (@Home): Glass: Riedel Sommelier Burgundy Popped and poured. Clear, medium garnet color. Lots of glycerine (tears). Clean, medium+ intense, youthful-developing nose. Ultra fine fruit (pure strawberry, raspberry), herbs, very elegant and balanced. Very complex, fine and elegant perfume! Dry, high acidity, 13% abv, high, silky tannin. This wine was not loud and shouting: “I am a Grand Cru!” At the first sip it was like a fine easy drinking Pinot from Germany. Only when you focus and drink more, you will notice the fantastic elegance and balance, the precise and ultrafine fruit, that has nothing artificial and the extract sweetness. It also shows a wonderful tension and pressure on the palate. Very long, fine fruity finish with a nice touch of saltiness. This is a crowd pleaser and easy drinking on a world class level. No surprise, that we completely emptied the whole bottle in no time! 95-96

Popped and poured. Red fruit, lightly toasted oak, sandalwood and some sweet funk on the nose. Beautiful palate, nicely ripe, good acidity and very supple tannins. More accessible than your average grand cru from 05.

This is delicious but very California pinot noir like to me. Lots of denser bright fruit, good acidity. Not a lot of litheness and certainly little funk or dirt. I like this quite a bit but if you’re looking for classic red burgundy this isn’t one I’d recommend.

Has a whiff of sandalwood and flinty mineral. It is compact with a line of whippy acid. Very much in shut-down mode.
