Nose - black cherry, spice inflected dark fruit. Attractive nose. Mouth - dark fruited, velvety and still tannic. A bit burly but lots going on here, and with a lovely richness that is impressive but not refined. Young still. Hold.

Despite Forey’s reputation for having a formidable structure, I hoped this young wine will be pseudo enjoyable considering the vintage. Intense perfectly ripe blackberries, blackberry jelly, liquid smoke, a hint of stem, mocha, a hint of Vosne spice and earth. Exceptional concentration, intense jammy blackberry driven palate impression, strong presence of mineral, good acidity, noticeable but non-obtrusive tannins and intense long sweet finish. This is an intense and structured wine that will peak in twenty years or more. Totally impressive and enjoyable at this young age.

A lost Friday afternoon gathering – Selosse, Cotat, Vatan, Ente, Red Burgs including 2011 Rousseau CSJ blind! (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Medium expressive nose displaying blackberry, black cherry, sap, smoke, a hint of stem and earth. Excellent concentration, strong mineral presence, medium acidity, sweet tannins and a long dark fruit driven finish. Although enjoyable, it seems masculine next to the sexy Rouget version. This will reach the peak in another decade or two. If you can get for under $150, a nice wine to cellar.
