This is my first Gran Cru from the Bourgogne region. Maybe my expectations were too high, maybe this winery just doesn’t make the most impressive Gran Cru, but I find this just a ‘fine’ wine. Well made, elegant and with the finish probably being the most impressive part. There have been 1er Cru that I recently had that I liked much better.
Light ruby/red. Fresh aromas of cherry, some berries and strawberry and hints of wet earth and sweet tobacco. Full bodied with light and silky, integrated, tannins and fresh acidity and fruit. Following through seamlessly into a finish that seems to lingers on for ever and remains fresh throughout.
This wine retained much of its freshness and lively character on the second day. This suggests that it will still hold for many years to come. But both the structure and the limited complexity doesn’t suggest to me that it will improve a lot. Drink now - 2034.

Showed as quite young, but promising. Nailed by all tasters as a ripe vintage. Most guesses were younger (many thought 2012). Strawberry, ripe cherries. Interestingly showed a bit of Morey character when served blind (perhaps some Ponsot signature?) Overall a delicious wine that proved quite challenging for blind tasters to pin down...but not challenging to drink with lunch - it was delicious!

Très belle pinote, le prix et son accessibilité le rende moins intéressant mais c`est tout de même une belle expérience. Des cerises et du noyau avec un peu d`épice et des feuilles de thé. Assez long avec une impression de minéraux. Bien aimé.

Wine Group Dinner #169 - 2009 Gevrey Chambertin Grand Crus (Urbane Restaurant, Brisbane): Wine Group Dinner #169, Urbane Restaurant. This wine had a lovely clear red cherry colour and a nose of freshly cut red cherries, wild strawberry and touches of citrus. The palate is round and rich with a suggestion of surmaturite yet still with a fine finish with a sense of creaminess to the texture. Delicious yet without the complexity expected at this level.

Really lovely wine, although still so young. Spice, red fruit (cherry, wild strawberry), floral perfume. Absolutely gorgeous.
