I like Corton and it can still be very good, but it’s certainly lesser of the grand crus for me. Nice red and darker berry fruits, but lacked a bit of length and complexity, and the acidity poked out a bit. Still, a good but slightly disjointed wine.

Monthly Tasting Group HWS #095; Pinot Noir: Côte de Nuits vs Côte de Beaune (By AH): For many this was the WOTN, for some too oaky. In the bouquet minerals, some autumn impressions, but above all a lot of smoky and toasted oak. Same on the palate. Ripe dark fruits with a firm amount of sweetness, smoke, laurel, minerals, beautiful acidity, and mild tannin. Although the oak dominates a bit in this stage, the fruits can handle it and when it integrates a bit more, this will be a great wine. If you like the oaky flavors this wine gives you that luxurious feeling. For now 92+, but around 2020 this can easily be a 94+ wine.
