First of all, I understand it to be improper to assign a number to a Cappellano. My apologies. So this wine is really exceptional. It struck me as a high-toned pinot noir with lots of acid and tannin. The nose is almost entirely menthol. The mouth feel is soft and plush but with fine-grained tannins coming in after the first rush of vibrant acidity. High-strung tart cherries, pine and a bit of tar on the finish. Quite a wonderful wine. A great deal of sediment. I opened this and thought it was just perfect so put the cork back in. Two hours later it wasn’t as vivid but had more depth. Three hours later the wine was ethereal. Quite the experience.

This was the strangest wine I have run across. Color of orangeish weak tea. Shadow flavors - not unpleasant, just not there. Massive amounts of sediment, like all of the tannin, flavors and acidity had been absorbed into and was held in the gunk at the bottom. So - clearly flawed, and clearly a sad story. Too common, from what it appears in the notes here.

Oxidised. Like a 30 year old wine.
2006 is a huge risk vintage for Cappellano. Stay away.

Trung's birthday. Slow Ox 10 hours, decanted 2 hours before dinner. Still opening. This was great from nose to palate. More elegance than power.

Early days, but accessible. Amazing depth of elegant fruit, combined with lots of stuffing. Needs more time.
