Dinner with Patrick Piuze (Seäsonal Restaurant & Weinbar, New York, NY): This is well into the secondary aromas. Now a slightly darker shade than the 2011 and 2012 vintages, there's a yeasty funkiness to the bouquet that dissipates after a few minutes. You're then left with biting lemon, sea breeze, light smoke, and stone and chalk. Later on someone observed a hint of truffle. In the mouth there's a saline jolt straight to the back of the tongue and down the throat. There's a pleasing fullness to this wine. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Shaw and Smith Chardonnay workshop (Oak Barrel, Elizabeth Street, Sydney): Colour: Lemon, bright, medium intensity Nose: Medium minus intensity, developing, clean, perfume; honeysuckle, mineral – wet stone, lemon, slight spice, clove, nutmeg, very slight butter Mouth: Medium plus acidity, slight phenolic grip, lemon, slight warmth on the finish that carries lemon and green apple, mineral; again wet stone, very slight honey and butter

Classic Chablis with just enough minerality to stop the wine becoming a liitle too fat in the mouth - decent length on the finish as well - not a producer I had drunk before but I was impressed

Showing quite forward aromatically with some honey and toast development. Piercing minerality in the mouth with all sorts of salty, iodine, sea spray things going on. It is linear and long with real classic Chablis atributes.

Off 71 year old vines this is mineral rich, textured and long. There are some buttery notes but it’s essentially all piercing iodine and citrus, great stuff!
