  • This 21+ year old cab is drinking at or near peak. Complex and well integrated flavor profile. Elegant. One of my top choices in a field of 8 heavy hitters at a group tasting. I am guessing that this will be at the top of its game for years to come. Drink or hold.

  • The aroma after pulling the cork was candied cherries and white chocolate. 2.5 hours of a proper decant and the wine was consumed over the next three hours. This wine acted like a fine Bordeaux. The initial sip brought to mind sour cherry, darker chocolate notes with nice loam and volcanic rock notes at the end of a long taste. this wine further evolved in bringing up nice violet notes, with some great cigar box and loam. The wine then brought in some rose water notes that intermingled with dark chocolate. The ending point of a very long taste profile displayed the rock that the wines are planted in (I remember one of the sons blasting the hillside to replant new vines!). This wine is a real work of art with some good years ahead of it!

  • 96. Opened on accident, corked it and drank the next day. Inviting bouquet of black currant, flowers, forest floor. The palate is fabulous, layers of ripe sweet blackcherry with a velvety finish. Plenty of energy and life left.

  • Beautiful crimson with slight bricking on the outer edges. Quite a bit of sediment and so, should have considered decatnting. (Besides the flawed bottles...) This was the least expressive bottle of the case. Perhaps it’s the age that has it losing its Sevey-ness - the herbal/sage aromatics and distinctive flavor profile, which established this as my all-time favorite Cab, 25-30 years ago? It was not flawed and far from ‘bad’, but just wasn’t the experience I’ve come to expect from this wine. Four bottles left. Let’s wait & see!

  • Full bodied and delightful. Blackberry and blueberry, hints of raspberry, cassis, multi-layered with woody undertones. 96+
