2nd of 12, opened 45 minutes, perfect cork and level, more mature and possibly more delicious than first noted in detail last August, carries alcoholic heft surprisingly lightly, some upside yet, 20+ years. F+ (18).

1st of 12, decanted an hour, perfect level, cork quarter travelled - dark dense ruby, little development; sweaty saddle, garrigue, earth, some mainly plum fruit flavours, mineral; full, long, persistent, intense and concentrated, some heat but not excessive, tannins not fully resolved, some years from maturity, considerable upside and good for 20+ years. F+ (18) for now.

Dinner at Greenwood (Greenwood, Highland Park, IL): Nose: The fruit shows a darker and richer profile with black cherries, tobacco, black raspberries, licorice, violets, spice tones, savory herbs, and earth notes. There is very good depth and this is in savory harmony right now.
Taste: The feel is Full bodied with medium acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. The tannins provide more of a spine at this point with black cherries, black raspberries, tobacco, licorice, spice tones, violets, and savory herbs.
Overall: This is drinking beautifully and I feel like the Mourvedre helped especially in this vintage. This still shows the richer tones that 03s generally seem to bring, but it works beautifully here. This feels like it should stay at a really good level for a while and it is fully ready to drink right now.

PNP. Dark magenta, moving to rust, then clear at the edge. Red fruit, raspberry and black cherry. Sweet tobacco and some gravelly minerals, nice structure and freshness, slightly chewy on the finish. Nice balance, medium body, elegant. In a great spot, plenty of life left.

(Domaine Tempier Bandol La Tourtine) Lovely sweet plummy nose with vanilla; tight, but delicious, with sweet oak and ripe fruit; yummy sweet finish 93+ pts.
