  • Completely agree with "West Coast" this is a fabulous La Tourtine... still has plenty of age left. These wines always need 15-20 years to really open up and express what they we intended when made. A lovely Garnet colour as I too decanted with dinner. Tannins, acid and alcohol have resolved leaving a really balanced wine that still has years ahead of it. Spices and earthy characteristics are primary but the fruit is still there after 20 year. Its very well balanced; Classic and beautiful expression of the variety and a delight to drink now.

  • At Fowey, decanted, browning, tiring fruit if still with underlying class and pleasurable, in decline and well off my 18 bottle, drink up. VG (16).

  • Garnet with just slight signs of age. Decanted prior to having dinner and went perfect with the lamb chops and filet we had. Tannins, acid and alcohol have resolved and gave way to a really balanced wine that still has years ahead of it. Spices and earthy characteristics are primary but the fruit is well balanced right now. Not a big, bold flashy wine but always a classic and beautiful expression of the variety!!

  • Last of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, nearly up to previous bottle in 14 and in spite of year with plenty of stuffing to carry on for a few years if not improve. F+ (18).

  • 2/2, good cork ~ 10% soaked, decanted 1/2 hr.
Nose is only moderately intense with earth, some attractive bilberry fruit. Fades a touch after opening. Palate is medium/full bodied, savoury bilberry and some red fruit, touch of leather, resolved, softened tannins, nice fresh acidity, but the finish, whilst harmonious, falls away quite quickly. This is fully resolved and there really isn’t much depth or length so I would be drinking this over the next 2 or 3 years.
