JD Friday Wine Group - GA Host (City Club FW - Wine Room): Tasted blind - whoa this one was big. Very deep and dark in the glass, translucent at best. Lots of red fruit and wood on the nose. Sweet red fruit, mixed with black fruit, on the palate. Huge tannins, that were in the way. This wine needs a lot more time to be anything close to classic Bordeaux. A Napa cab lover would be into it though. I was convinced we were in Bordeaux, but I guessed a left bank from mid 2000s.
Decanted for 3 hours. Still young (as expected), yet already a great wine. Incredible that this is a second wine. Unfortunately, the quality is also reflected in the price. 93 pts. at the moment.
Quite intense, dark and brooding wine. Decanted and drank over an hour a half bottle remaining after two precious Coravin extractions. Blackish ruby color with purplish translucent rim. Nose of perfumed cassis, blackcurrants, pepper, leather, and graphite. On the palate fat entry, dense black fruits and cassis, lots of grip, powerful structure with firm tannins on the long finish. Quite complex at this super young age. Fabulous.

Drank this alongside a 2010 Sassicaia. Awesome to see how different the two were. This was very classic. Cedar, cassis and dark fruits. Needs a good decant (2+) before it starts to show you what it has. Can easily go another 10+ years. Lovely wine.

Grand Jury du Vin - Republic of Georgia; 11/1/2023-11/9/2023 (Republic of Georgia then stopover in Paris and Dijon): Wine 9 – Black fruit, chocolate, silky and sexy, spicy, very refined.
Afterthought – I always had the opinion that second wines represent poor QPR. Maybe I am wrong. This was exceptional.
