Another lost Friday afternoon gathering – Provenance, Power of Blind tasting and loving M. Gibourg CV (Charlie Palmer - Washington DC): Maureen mentions the stylistic difference and I agree 100%. The color is darker than the Egon Muller. Richer and riper nose displaying caramel, pink grapefruit sorbet, honey, rosemary and mineral. Excellent concentration, rich and oily, intense ripe yellow fruit driven palate impression, bright acidity and a long sweet caramel driven finish. This seems a bit cloying, perhaps too rich at this point. I much prefer the purity, energy and youthfulness of the Egon Muller.
