Prime drinking Lloyd's Shiraz. For me, it reminded me of the dusty Northern Rhone Shiraz, a lot of dry brown spices and dusty smooth tannins. Great complexity and very ephemeral. Brilliant. Could cellar for another year or two, but I really reckon it is singing now.

Intense shiraz but with good structure. Blueberry, plum, roast meat, cloves, tobacco leaf. Lots going on with firm tannins through the length. Still young - needs another 5 years to reach peak I would say. The fruit is intense, though there are enough savoury notes to make this interesting.

A finely ageing but still young 94+/100 (4.1/5.0) from me. It was a bit heady on the nose. But there was some ageing gamey flavours hinting at the quality of this 1919 single vineyard beauty from McLaren Vale.
There were lots of dark plums and berries with some early ageing meaty and earthy characters starting to show through, no doubt from the 18 months this wine spent in French Oak. This was blind tasted, and my second best of 11 wines. I noted it was still young, and probably needs another 2-3 years more in the bottle.

This was a very good wine in its style. Yes, it thick and syrupy and resinous but it's also full of blackberry, plum, chocolate, black olive and mocha/coconut oak. It comes straight at you without flinching and if you're drinking this wine, that's probably what you want. Probably drink earlier rather than later as I don't know that the structure is there for the long haul and I have a feeling it's best years are now.

NobleRottersSydney - shiraz all prices (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {cork} (David) Inky colour; big and rich; even the aromas were velvety and ripe-smelling. The palate is full-bodied, with plush fruit-cake flavours, a touch of charcoal, and oak subservient to the jammy fruits. Has a scorched feel to it; oak toast maybe? I didn’t catch the alcohol %, but it wasn’t too hot; still fairly well-balanced! Lots of dusty tannins carry the medium/long finish; there’s plenty of weight right along the palate, and this has only really started on its aging evolution. Vale shiraz done properly; it’s not so common as you’d expect, in my view. Very good wine. Currently ~$80 I believe; a relative bargain.
