Opened and put through aerator x 2 glasses and improved over 1hr in glass. Definitely should have decanted it because the following night with the same method as above to finish off the bottle the result was much better. Holding up very well after 25 years but would like to see again in 12 months because it feels like it has a few years in it still. Port smell, oaky and a bit of chocolate, coffe grounds smooth tannins, not dry in mouth after taste. Very satisfying

With Mei-Ping, Trish, Jen and I at the Afghan Kebab House: So, what kind of wine could we have with dinner, after a horizontal tasting of Peter Michael Chardonnays and a Vertical of Chateau Angelus (including the 2005!). This was my pick ... b/c I thought it would be different, and go with the Afghan food. The wine had lovely, Australian jammy fruit, with some spice and tannins on the finish. It paired very well with our Afghan food (lamb, etc.). I thought it was a good bottle for our $25 purchase price ... but I would hesitate to pay the $50 retail price I see in the marketplace.

impenetrable earthy purple colour. blueberry rosehip on nose. good structure with well integrated silky balanced tannins & fruit. black currant cab-like, long & intriguing finish.
