Similar notes to last time. Medium to full bodied. This goes down very well. Good balance with firm tannins and acidity that integrates nicely. It's not showing it's age yet.

Rich, medium to full bodied, powerful fruit. Liquorice, blackberry, tobacco, chocolate on the palate. The power is balanced by robust but refined tannins, and a long drying finish. A real crowd pleaser.

This was an excellent example of McLaren Vale shiraz. An absolute classic shiraz from the region - loads of structure, finesse, refined fruit, soft tannins, good acidity. My problem with this wine though is there is no wow factor. If you were to start with a good $20 McLaren Vale shiraz and then increase price by $10 each time you would get to this wine. Very incremental. I am happy to spend the money to get the better quality, but to be honest I'm looking for something distinctive. For me, from this region, the Dead Arm is a better wine - it has a uniqueness that this wine doesn't. Still I did enjoy this and would happily drink more, though next time with a few more years on it. For the record I think this has at leat 10 more years on it, if not 20.
