St Estephe tends to holds up well to hot vintages, I suspect due to the somewhat heavier soil. Plums, blackberry, soil, biscuit, a touch of mineral. Shows a bit of the vintage's heat, but not too alcoholic. I like this for $20. This makes me want to try the Montrose.
This wine exemplifies perfectly what I love about St. Estèphe - the earthiness, the structure, the slightly understated fruit (or berries, rather). And the youthfulness of this wine a dozen years after the vintage is just staggering. I just wish I had a few more bottles stashed away...

Jammy black and red fruits, licorice, pie crust, spice and cedar chest aromas open to a soft, polished, supple textured, sweet, spicy, red and black fruit filled wine that is drinking great today.

Very good. I think this would easily pass for a California wine if tasted blind.
