Needed some time for the aromas to really come through. Pencil shavings, graphite, some smoke, and somewhere in the background was cassis and black fruits. Had to work hard to detect the fruit. Palate was still reasonably fresh. Not particularly tannic right now, and the fruit was perhaps just a tad too thin for my liking. Not sure where this is going from now.

Cassis, tobacco, pencil, powdery and spicy, dash of mint and oak. Wonderful entry-level St. Estèphe. Good QPR. A point. The owners of Montrose bought this estate in 2006, which seems like a clever move to me.

Very pleasant, still young wine. Dark and silky with good balance of sweet dark fruits and spicy and smokey aromas. Neither too heavy nor too light. Give it some hours decant.

Pulled from the cellar on a whim, which is never a great idea with a youthful St Estephe, so had to give it a splashy decant and plenty of time to open as it was pretty grumpy and reticent aromatically to start with and for the first hour or so, by the end of the night it was showing good blackberry and cassis fruit with a little nutmeg and earth and really rather attractive, just a bit youthful but almost ready for prime time, possibly a couple more years time.

Dark ganet color, pleasant smell of rock candy. Soft, round, very pleasing. Nice wine, easy going. Fully mature.
