  • Rouge-violet opaque.

  • Excellent value. In its prime. Fills your mouth with lush black and blue fruit and overlay of cherry and cranberry.

  • Initially was fearing it was oxidized due to some sweetness and acid, but that subsided after an hour in bottle. Licorice, dates, plum and some cassis. Nicely hitting stride after 2 hours. Acidity almost completely gone, tastes like an almost wrapped date I had. Great on palate, less so on nose. Slight coffee there my wife says. Great with short ribs braised in rum.

  • From magnum, double decanted two hours before service. Medium red color. Spicy nose. Initially tart acidity that morphed in the glass after about 20 minutes. After a while, good fruit with a floral nose.

Overall, a medium weight wine that I expected to be deeper given the age and the bottle size. There will be no benefit in holding these longer, but they'll drink fine for another five years.
