Tasted blind, most thought this wine was 20-30 years old, still with ruby /garnet edges, nice core of currants with pencil lead, tobacco, leather, nice round mouthfeel, soft tannins, long finish, amazingly youthful for an 89 year old wine, what a treat!!
Now this is a rare treat -- astonishingly lively for an 80+ year old Cali Cab. The label was pristine, suggesting this may have been reconditioned at some point in time. None the less, the wine inside the bottle impressed. Full effusive nose has tobacco and savory red fruit. Palate has medium body with mature red fruit and decaying earth notes. All the elements are still there -- fruit, light acid grip and resolved but still present tannin. History in a bottle.

Wine Flock Intro-Retro Blind Tasting (Gary's home outside on the porch, Chicago IL): Pop and pour, blind and in a flight of 4 really older Cab's. What a treat, wonderful color, great feel on the palate, long sweet finish, lovely and 80+ years old. Those farmers just knew what were good grapes in those days. Historic. For me WOTN! Thank you Gary!!

Chicago Wine Flock...Gary Opens Cali Cab (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind in what turned out to be an even older Cali cab flight. I like old wine, but I like it because age can make it taste better. Age has made this wine very interesting, but just moderately tasty to me. Others thought it WOTN.
