I just love Beaucastel! I found a bunch of morels on my property and thought, what could be better than morels and Beaucastel. It didn't disappoint. Deep, foggy red with hints of brown. The nose is wet metallic, with stewed vegetables. My husband gets a tart Raspberry with tannins. I get tartness on the side of my tongue, with forest floor or mushroom. Also a hint of black cherry. My husband gets some cocoa. It continued to open over 3 hours. Some metal flavors came out, with more intense stewed vegetables. It went very well with the pork in morel mushroom sauce. Soft and drinkable now. I wouldn't wait much longer to drink it.

Surprisingly little sediment. Very open and fragrant immediately on decanting. Sweet red and stewed fruits, forest floor, mushroom, mulled wine spices, leather. Silky texture, well integrated, some remaining tannin, a slight touch of warmth. Long finish. Lovely mature CDP.

A softer, gentler Châteauneuf du Pape, but still clearly a Châteauneuf du Pape. Some primary fruit mixing with cocoa, a touch of leather, some minty herbs, and vague hints of vanilla in the start of the ride. Transitions gracefully. The tannins are mostly resolved. Still a serious wine, it’s softened considerably. Wonderful now, could get better.

(Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape) Medium dark red violet color; intriguing herbal, dried berry and baked plum nose; a bit narrow on palate, with tart plum, berry and graphite; medium finish
(Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape) Chateauneuf tasting at Beltramo's: 1st bottle: peppery vanilla and tar nose with reduction; funky tight peppery plum palate; medium-plus finish 90+ pts. 2nd bottle: similar nose, but more leather, tart fruit and plum on palate; medium-plus finish 91 pts.
(BEAUCASTEL DU PAPE RED) #1; COLOR-great, dark; NOSE-like a Tribeca sewer after a clean rain, hints of raspberry pie, real nice nose; TASTE-nice bottle, real spiciness coming through, great layers (dark chocolate mixed w/ a raspberry flavor); a little one-dimensional, solid bottle, great structure, VERY Young; RP-92/95; GV-92

Beautiful nose, very classic Châteauneuf. Nice palate as well but feeling a bit tired. Good wine but definitively on the down slope. Drink up now.

Opened up over one hour in the glass. Nice pairing with pork stir fry. Drink by 2025.
