Cigar box, underbrush, blackberries, flowers, and lead pencil show in the nose. On the palate, the wine is ready to go with its soft, polished, sweet red plum and currant core of fruits. Charming in style, with loads of refreshing mint at the back of the finish, this is drinking beautifully today. The wine blends 85% Cabernet Sauvignon with 15% Merlot. Drink from 2023-2041.

2011 was a difficult vintage, with the damage to crops and diminished yield, and it shows in Ducru.
The wine is tannic and thick with tertiary flavours, a lot of cigar leaves, dried mushrooms, cedarwood but lacking fruits.
To me, the wine is not balanced, despite 2 hours decanting.

Deep ruby in the glass. Nose is ready and open for business straight off the bat - cassis, tobacco, cigar box, cedar, burnt toast. Medium-bodied I'd say with ripe tannins and high acidity. Wine that has a developing palate at this stage and is very, very approachable. Could age for a bit, but nothing crazy long.

This is really good!
Double decanted for 3h. It needed it.
Once opened, still much on the primary, great sense of freshness (fabulous acidity), minerality, purity of the black fruit. Definitely some spices there as well.
Mouth coating and long. Definitely a keeper.
