Way past its prime or it oxidized too much somehow. Nice gold color and hints for stone fruit and honey on the nose but overshadowed by acidic palate. Disappointing overall as Ravines Chards are generally excellent and age worthy.

So a chemical note on the nose - to be fair I just finished drinking a Villaine Rully a few minutes before so the comparison may be unfair. Flavors ok but nicely balanced. Not a bad American Chardonnay but this made me think. I really find French wines from Chardonnay have much more character, interest and complexity. The flavors are more satisfying with mineral and other notes that make them so much more enjoyable and interesting. American wines so far are interesting but for the money are not as enjoyable.

Medium lemon in color. The 2010 Ravines Chardonnay boasts an alluring white Burg nose of butterscotch, white flowers, lemon Meringue, citrus skin and sappy vanilla. A generous acidity, tropical fruit notes, and a overtly autolytic note abound on the palate (this almost tastes like an inexpensive Champagne that someone has shaken all of the bubbles out of). From attack to finish the wine is almost too yeast driven for a table Chard, but is undoubtedly one of the best inexpensive east coast Chards I have ever had.

Nose has pear, apricot and toasty oak. Palate is consistent with fig and loads of lemony minerally citrus on the finish offsetting the oak nicely. A touch heavy on the oak for me but the acidity makes up for it. Overall a very pleasant, satisfying food friendly inexpensive domestic chard.
