My first bottle of the 1995 was 5 years ago and it was marvelous. This, however, upon opening was tired and thin and appeared to be very oxidized. Not much at all on the palate even after an hour. Replaced cork and put in fridge. Tried it again the next day and what a difference. Thinness was replaced with an earthy complexity and hint of oxidation that tantalized the palate and finish. I suggest decanting this wine for a few hours before drinking. I also do not know how much time this wine has left, so I would drink it over the next year or two.

Not up to previous bottle. Cloudy light yellow hue and a bit of oxidation. Perhaps an off bottle or is the wine going into decline?

Much better than previous bottle. Great balance and purity. The wine showed no signs of decline.

Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vertical (Joe & Magda's, NYC): Dark gold color. Smokey melon nose. Somewhat muted up front but the finish is expansive and exciting. A wow wine!

Cloudy gold. Popcorn and citrus on the nose. Smells rich – dry and pleasant finish. Interesting if not terribly long. (88)
