Predominantly red maraschino cherry with hints of blackberry liquer and cinnamon... did a bit of the cannubi boschis make it in here? Subtle notes of balsam appear for fleeting moments in the glass... maybe a touch of brunate in the mix? Not sure of the exact vineyard blend, but to me this screams of 2008 in the village of barolo. Even better than the last bottle but not much evolution over the past 2 years; still I am thoroughly pleased with the depth of fruit, balancing acidity and traditional yet approachable appeal of this wine.
While somewhat B. Mascarello-ish in it's fruit profile, this wine wont make you contemplate the meaning of life. Instead my thoughts are more focused on why I didn't buy more of this simply enjoyable, no fuss nebbiolo.

Roses and dark ripe fruit that is very fresh and pure. There is a creaminess to the black cherry liquor but this wine bounces on the edge of over ripeness and the alcohol creeps up from time to time which can throw the wine off balance. After a few hours, tar and tobacco become more prominent. Overall maybe just a bit too ripe, but still very fine and drinkable in its youth. The tannins are present but not overpowering and, in this vintage, I prefer the elegance of this blended barolo more than the power of the Brunate cru bottling - though both are beautifully traditional and great values at their respective price points.

After 7 bottles of this I can honestly say that I would compare this in style to Macarello's Monprivato. Has the same light suppleness as that wine and by that I mean this is in a very unique category of Nebbiolo. Again, very traditional and pure producer. A very correct, "classic" Barolo.

Light and lovely wine, soft tannin, red fruit and cherry, not really complexity but enjoyable! very approachable even when young..
