Purchased at auction. This is Knoll's top bottling which is not made in every vintage. Sourced from the highest section of the Loibnerberg and Kellerberg vineyards. The ripest of Knoll's wines made with botrytis affected grapes. 2011 was a warm vintage. Not decanted. Light gold color with a little alcohol on the nose showing the 14.5%. A rich and opulent wine with a full body. Notes of spiced pears, apricot and a long minerally finish. 95 points.

Wonderful yellow color. Good smooth texture. Lemon zest in the nose, peppery long finish. Wonderful food wine. For me always a treat with boiled beef. Still has along way to go but great today.

Dunkelgelb, dichte Struktur, fein und elegant...wurde immer besser, würde ich das nächste mal eine Stunde früher öffnen.

Opened by Vino Me with dinner. Notes of apricot and citrus. A nice treat and certainly one of the better Gruners I've had.
