  • Burgundy Dinner to Plan More Burgundy Dinners (Chicago IL): This has evolved in an interesting way for a tough vintage. I know the entire Accad technique is quite vilified today, but I like this wine. No surprise, it is all secondary and tertiary, but the earthiness is quite elegant and not overwhelmed by tannins as I had feared. I also wish more Richebourg spice and charm came through. Good acidity, better with food than on its own. Held steady over the course of three hours open.

Interestingly, after writing my note I saw that Clive Coates rated this 20/20 in 1995 calling it "quite brilliant." I wouldn't go that far, but I think this is a good Grand Cru, if not with classic Richebourg spice, still for the next 5-10 years.
