Allowed to breathe in glass for one hour. Clear deep garnet with moderate sediment in bottle. Musty, dusty bouquet of mixed black and red fruit and their liqueurs, spicy oak, dill, underbrush. Soft and round on the palate, easy drinking. Freshened and became less musty with time. Less appealing the next day, with savory meaty notes. Not bad for a $15 wine from an off vintage at age 17.
Decanted for an hour, still had mild tannins but smoothed out wonderfully after a couple minutes drinking. Great balance of oak and dark fruit flavors.

I think this is past its prime or its dubious storage has really gotten to it. It's very cedar on the nose without any fruit. It has hints of a rich depth as if it were a port, but it's so dry lacking any fruit whatsoever. There's very little finish and I'm not sure there is anything left on it to recommend cooking with it. There's no tannin or astringency though so it's my drinkable tonight.

Great right out of the bottle, opened up even more after decanting. Long legs, smooth finish.
