A nice bottle went a treat with the beef for dinner over some good Burgundies (including Tache 16 which was too jammy for me, a great CLB Cras 13 and a Mugnier Fuees 14). Started out quite muted and needed a few minutes to wake up and while it never soared from the glass it was a very pretty, slighty compact, nicely mineral and fresh with a touch of pomegranate and cranberry. A wine you drink and enjoy with friends that goes in a heartbeat. But it is for me a relatively big step behind Reignots 11 and huge step behind Romanee 11 (had the previous day).

Epic Bordeaux for an Epic Birthday!; 9/1/2021-9/12/2021 (Paris & Bordeaux): Very young. This is a Burgundy made for people who like Bordeaux. Bigger wine. Tight. It opened up with some time, but it's still really younger than we should be drinking now. It's a nice wine, but it misses that Burgundian elegance that I enjoy. Perhaps with more time as it finds itself.

Intense wine - tasted over two days and better on day 2; lots of Pinot here, light on it's feat, very clean and pure - joyfull and young, quite open for buseness. #IB

Wines for the Acker Merrall Bicentennial Auction (The Pool - New York NY): Popped and poured, then enjoyed with a burger over the next hour. Lots of red fruit with good weight and better balance. Good combination of ripe and tart cherry, with nothing overtly under-ripe, like too many 2011s. Very good now.

Very closed. Despite a decant, this really did not move much over three hours.
