Hard as nails. Tight and tannic on opening. After an hour in decanter, it started to throw strawberry, balsamico and sottobosco. That said, the palate was still tightly wound and tannic. It's going to be a great wine, but I think it needs another 3+ years, and is likely to last toward 2030.

Strikes me as in its early maturity window. Red raspberry, licorice, herbs, sandalwood. Full bodied with fresh acidity on the attack, pomegranate a rhubarb, with a more expansive impression on the mid-palate and finish. The finish shows the typical tar and rose inner aromas, partial resolution of tannins but rather grippy overall. Fine wine, though I'll let my other 2005s sleep I think.
