Not a terrific read off of this wine tonight. The '01 and '96 Truchot Clos de la Roches weren't quite as pretty or aromatic as the '01 and '96 Truchot Charmes-Chambertins. Some perfume on the nose, tight blackberry and blueberry on the palate, and a fair amount of acid hanging around. Still a great wine and a real pleasure to drink.

Decanted about 2 hours before serving. Nose dominated by soil and red fruits. The palate is very elegant- pure pinot fruit carried by earth and sap. terrific wine.

A weekend of Jacky Truchot; 1/28/2006-1/29/2006 (Washington DC): Crystal clear ruby. Cream soda on the nose. Lemon peel elements, good structure and balance, but kind of mono-dimensional and not expressing GC quality.
