#04-14, 8% abv. The nose is demure, with more of a minerally/slaty sort of feel than straight-up fruit, but there are some tart green apple notes as well as some herbal aromatics here. The palate is true to the vintage -- very much acid driven and lean, with some sweet fruit, but certainly weighted towards a racy, high-acid style here. I might even have guessed this as a Kabinett if served this blind. Not as complete and rounded on the palate as the phenomenal 2012, but an excellent bottle of riesling and one of the better ones that I've had from 2013. That said, I'm not totally sold on the value proposition.

Herlig vin! Men bør få ligge lenge.

Wines for the Acker Merrall Bicentennial Auction (The Pool - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Tasted double blind Oman evening full of Burgundy, so this got slightly lost. However, easily identifiable as Riesling. Rich apple with apple cobbler spice and character, but I thought it Kabinett level based on the moderate sweetness. Good richness and structure working well together. I enjoyed this more than others at my table.

Complex array of orchard fruit aromas and flavors with some apple pie notes. Faintly sweet (more savory than I'd expect for young Spätlese) with impressive richness and density. Very long, spicy finish. So good now with excellent upside.
