Chateau Climens 1966-1983 (Tom's House, Palo Alto): Tasted blind. My #5, group's #6. Golden-orange; a little spice, apricot, balanced; palate is full bodied, excellent spice, fruit, minerality, persists through the palate; slight chlorine on the medium finish. Very nice. 91-92

Medium bright & clear golden yellow in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of developed & mature, ripe fruit aromas of yellow peaches, orange marmalade, lemon & apricots with lovely floral overtones of honeysuckle, spices, honey, minerals and a touch of vanilla. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of balanced, smooth textured, well developed & mature, rich, ripe sweet fruit flavors of canned peaches, dried apricots, some lemon & orange with honey, spices, minerals and a hint of vanilla. Long lingering sweet finish. Drinks quite well at present and although it may be at its peak of development, it has the fruit/structure to hold onto this present plateau for a few more additional years although any further development is doubtful.

Showed beautifully again as part of a birthday dinner with friends. Had next to an 88 Rieussec. Popped and poured. Fantastic older Sauternes color. Nose of honey, showing a touch of lemon curd. Great mouthfeel. I don't know that this is going to get much better, but it's showing very well right now.

Golden in color, greasy
Saffron, candied orange, nutty and roasted
High acidity, intense, a clear tone of age
Doesn't really have that clear botrytis tone but still a good wine with a great acidity. Even though its 40 years old.
