Excellent Drinking well now, first from Coravin and then uncorking several nights later. Plummy spice, tannins still with some grit, slight anise, fennel dust in the middle, nice dark fruits, showing hints of aged character, a bit of leather. Faintly sour in a very good way.
Nice QPR from K&L sub-$30 about six years ago.

Drinking well right now. Dark red color, bit of a pepper and earthy nose, nice finish. Very flood wine. There was a lot of sediment, be sure to decant.

A very good wine that is difficult to assess right now. The night before I opened the bottle, I poured a couple ounces via Coravin. At first it was all up-front fruit and then after about 10 minutes the remaining ounce showed great promise, firing off spice and garrigue notes and an array of fruit. The night of consumption I decanted for an hour or so and began sipping and cooking. It was very good, but it actually seemed to give less and less, putting up armor around the core of fruit. It continued to drink well and paired well enough with the grilled steaks, but I kept wanting it to get up and dance. Not sure what to think. Closed?
"89" for now (very good+)... there seems to be nice potential lurking. Hold the other bottle for a few years...
Nearly all of my Tablas bottles are winery direct, but the two '13 Syrahs are from K&L purchased early 2018. K&L offered 16 bottles of this and it sold in a couple of weeks. It's doubtful this was an original purchase on release, so someone else owned this before K&L. They deal private cellars and I think not everything goes to auction. This is probably that kind of deal or some old distributor stock. Nothing to suggest prior poor storage, but no knowledge either.

Black fruit, olives, meat glaze on the nose and the palate. This wine didn't do a lot for me unfortunately -- didn't feel particularly interesting or expressive. Nothing "wrong" with it though.

Black fruit, pepper, tobacco, herbal notes, layered complexity, cedar, finishes smooth.
