  • Beautiful bottle, notes of wild meats, red fruits, black pepper and smoke.
    Drink now through 2022.

  • This bottle was purchased a few months ago from a reputable source and seemed to have been well stored. It was not the first wine of the night, so not a duly noted as it should have been. It didn't have much in the way of aged character and was good but somewhat muted. Not sure if this is a candidate to put down for a few more years to see what happens or to drink up? Quite good, but not memorable.

  • Bright, but not thin. Avoids any strong notes of meat / game, instead showing vibrant fruit and noticeable tobacco notes. Acidity present, but largely folded into the body of the wine, as are the tannins.

This is a real treat for current drinking. I realize I've historically made a mistake with my Tablas shipments - hiding the Esprit away and treating the single variety bottles as near-term drinking candidates. This bottle of Syrah has certainly highlighted to me the value of letting some of these lay down too. 91-92 points.

  • No notes, writing from memory a few nights ago. Very nice from PnP over a few hours of drinking. Just so well balanced, dark fruits but not gobs, smooth but enough acid to keep it together, dried herbs and dusty earth and some roasted meat. A pleasant surprise, this had been stored in good, but imperfect conditions around 65F. It was time to drink up I think.

  • after dinner at which we had the Esprit 05 and 08. This wine is clearly a different level of complexity. This was very good but not as interesting as far as flavors as the Esprits. Of course no problem but the contrast was quite sharp. This is a very well developed wine looking to be at its peak (?). Great color and nose and on the nose it was well developed. Good wine and good choice after the bigger brothers.
