Michael Schuster Fine Wine Course Day 6 (Headspace, Hatton Gardens, London): Pale garnet, brown rim. Medium aromas of dried red fruit, earth, sweet and fragrant, makes you want to linger. Fully developed. Dry, fresh acidity, light tannnins, silky, medium (-) body, medium alcohol (13%), medium intensity flavours of sweet fruit, spice, barnyard. Medium (+) length. Nice complexity. Very good quality, fully mature, premier cru Burgundy. Drink up in next couple of years.

Tasted with a Hudelot Chambolle Musigny village wine, and Jackson Triggs Delaine Pinot Noir. This was the clear winner. Amazing nose of mint, berry fruit, and some smoky meat elements. Delicate and complex in the mouth, the flavour spanned fruit, smoke, oak, herbs... The finish was gentle but long. Incredibly well balanced for a 6 year old wine, and offered the complexity that everyone talks about in a Burgundian Pinot. This is quite possibly the best wine experience I have ever had. Worth every penny of the $75 cost.

Not quite as impressive as the first bottle, but wonderful nonetheless. Classic gentle yet full Burg.
