For me this is always a volatile producer in terms of style, and this is a surprise given its accessibility and vintage performance. Enjoyable stem and gamey blue fruit nose, some smoke in the mix, quite sweet. 93

Spicy black cherry with the classic Gevrey game/animale character. Didn't show any of the bitter/green side of the vintage, rather several tasters (served blind) thought there was an attractive stemmy element in the wine. This is a powerful, well structured wine that will be well served by another 2-5 years in the cellar, then probably last for a long time going forward.

Monthly Tuesday group "The Dead Sparrow" #044: Gevrey-Chambertin (@ The factory by VD): In the bouquet smoke and toast, dark berries and currants. On the palate dark and red berries, chocolate and some caramel. Beautiful acidity and a good length. The wine is a bit drying in the finish and showing some age, but it is still delicious.

Bourogne in the Fall (Oslo): Youthful appearance. A curious bitter aftertaste, tannic, and minerals. May have a very good future. Difficult to judge.
