Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 94.7 points

  • In a great tête-à-tête, Switzerland’s Domaine de la Rochette Les Chypres 2019 (96pts) triumphed over Burgundy’s Clos de Beze 2014 from Le Moine (94pts). The Swiss contender captivated with its intricate complexity, showcasing a spectrum of purer, brighter red fruits, and an effortlessly ethereal structure. Meanwhile, the Beze, though no less distinguished with its superb precision and harmony, was somewhat overshadowed by its tendency towards excessive polish.

TN: This shows considerable expressiveness both on the nose and palate. The primary aromas are quite striking, featuring superb red and dark red fruits, underscored by minerality and herbal notes. While there's room for more complexity, the precision is commendable. The structure is notably round with fine, satin-like tannins and maintains good freshness. It's a very rounded and balanced wine, extremely polished, though perhaps leaning too much towards being overly glossy.

    Decanting: No extensive decanting needed.
