Drank mostly with oysters and other dishes from a recently purchased magnum. I am a big fan of Chablis, and I know this producer and cru well, but my preference is always for relatively young Chablis (3-7 years), although Grenouilles can often be too sharp and lean when first released. At 12 years of age, the color here is slightly more yellow than normal (as expected), but the nose is still very fresh. In the mouth, mineral acidity is largely replaced with a round texture with herbaceous notes. Hard to define exactly, but nothing too complex (unlike what you would get in a similarly aged Meursault or Chassagne-Montrachet for instance). Not a great pairing for oysters (due to low acidity), but still a very interesting wine that paired well with the rest of the eclectic meal. It improved as it warmed up. My wife loved it and I'm glad I tried it, but it's not something I'd want to repeat often, as the wine is clearly past its prime for me. Maybe a better vintage such as the glorious 2014 Grenouilles would have been a more interesting and complex wine. I suspect that in 750 ml bottle this 2011 might have been problematic.

Good bottle but missing a little of that searing regional acidity. Enjoyable and aromatic as it warmed in the glass.

PnP. Much same showing as in June but a trifle more expressive. However, lacking acidity for a Grand Cru Chablis. Drink NOW

Den Blind Hane#14 - Chardonnay (Hos Malene&Lars): D1h. Straw yellow. Discrete mineral driven very terroir like. Fin structure, some acidity, but a bit boring considering he breed. Drink now.
