My how my own tastes have changed. I remember loving the nose on this wine a few years ago. Now this bottle may have had a bit more brett but it was too much to be enjoyed.

PnP. Beautiful ruby red in the glass. Nose of ripe red fruit, slight funk, baking spices, heat. On the palate midweight, silky, ripe red fruit, signature NG stemminess. Medium length savory finish of acid, bitter fruit, stems.
Drinking perfectly right now and showing better than the '11 syrah drank a few nights prior.

From the La Paciencia vineyard, this grenache has a beautiful floral nose with fresh strawberries and raspberry jam thrown in for good measure. Roses, some savoury spices, a touch of mint, smoke and black pepper. It gets more musty and mushroomy in the mouth with a finish that was a bit "off" at the beginning, but it mellowed into a finish that was sleek, smooth and sexy. I did not decant and it would have benefited from an hour or two.

3+ hour decant. Rocks District funk on the nose but beautiful juice in the mouth. Delicious wine.
