Dark fruit, tobacco and leather are all in balance. There is still freshness in this wine. Good nose and texture. The wine continued to open up with time in the glass. Very nice.

This wine is starting to come together. Soft tannins surround the red fruit notes, tobacco and leather. Everything is nicely integrated. Great depth and structure for a Rosso. Drink over the next two to three years.

shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week. Vic says this wine is made with de=classified grapes from "across the road". there is a discrepancy between professional reviews and members regarding longevity. the wine proved to out perform expectations. generous nose. lots of red fruit. full in the mouth. satisfying finish. could probably of kept a little longer but glad to have enjoyed now while it was still vibrant.

While seemingly well made, from a top Brunello producer, this Sangiovese by Casanova misses the mark. Lots of Brett on the start, evolving to pen ink, a bit of smoke and wet paint. It’s not that I’m not in favor of a little Brett or the aromas I speak of, but from there the rather jagged edges didn’t seem to resolve themselves, the finished missed, oddly as the mid palate wasn’t so bad.
I’ll look to move up to what else these folks produce next.
