Quite an excellent Bourgogne to be in this condition at 24 years. Provenance probably played a part here; the nose is floral, sweet and with a touch of earth. Elegant but very open and forward. The palate is where it falls a tad short; there is not much weight, and the fruit is just about thinning out. Soft tannin, medium minus finish.

Clear bright ruby red, slight fade, slight bricking, medium pale; a little musty off the bat, but red cherry fruit showing through along with forest floor, bark and dried leaves, cheese rind; excellent concentration, med. body, elevated acidity, moderately drying but present tannins, tangy red cherry finish. In excellent shape and a testament to Leroy. It's a bit too earthy though, and despite the good concentration it still lacks elegance of a premier cru or even a good village. Very happy with this though as I thought it might be long gone. Paid $17 for this puppy on release through Premier Cru. Can't complain at all. At home w/Camembert cheese. 2nd Day: Finished off the last glass and a half the next night and it was sailing. Softened up, the must was gone and showed nice mature fruit. Easy 90 tonight.

Great showing for an old Bourgogne, crafted by a legend. Almost black in the glass. Mostly secondary with pepper spices, mushrooms, and dried flowers, but was backed by hints of plum and blackberrry. The viscosity was velvety. Finish was long. Happy I have 1 more. Will leave for another 2 years or so.

Flickinger Customer Appreciation Tasting (Casino Club - Chicago IL): Walk-around tasting. A wonderful Bourgogne with very good weight for its level. The juxtaposition of earth, spice and fruit give this more charm and nuance. Much better than the last time tasted two years ago (at this same event.

Musique & Vin Festival BYO Dinner (Château du Clos de Vougeot): Small taste. Very rich and pleasant without lots of complexity, but good+ concentration for Village.
