Dark colour. Eucalyptus and berry purity on the nose. Black currants and promising power! However, there's considerably less umpa-umpa in the mouth than advertised by the nose. There's a beautiful facet of Brett in the finish. This is a beautiful, ultra-pure and little sensitive wine.
My guess: 2007 Over 30 years wrong. Wow!

Bought 4 years ago at auction and while it a had a solid fill, I was a little skeptical. Finally busted it our for my birthday dinner........Hit all the right notes and in perfect harmony, well integrated, still showing adequate structure. A beautiful crimson with no browning tones. Absolute joy to drink. Gives me faith in some other old bottles I've picked up!

It has a most pleasing aroma of violets, mint, cedar, smoked meats and sweet earth. There are highly perfumed flavours in the mouth and the tertiary earth and mushroom notes are just starting to come to the fore. It still has plenty of grip on the finish and the acidity is bright and breezy.

This bottle is absolutely humming. On the nose there’s sweet cedar, smoked meats, dried flowers, sage and mint. It is quite generous in the mouth with delicious sweet fruit that is countered with plenty of savoury nuance. Acidity is still brisk and gives the wine vitality and lift and there’s still just a suggestion of chewy tannins on the finish. It is a Bordeaux for the Burg drinker as you keep being drawn into the wine’s sensual perfume.

Fading, more tart than sweet and better on the nose, than the palate, this requires drinking.
